Tissamaharamaya
Thissamaharama is an ancient city with cultural values. The city is mostly visited by tourists to enjoy and explore the history of the city. The ancient stupas and irrigation reservoirs are highlighted destinations in Thissamaharama. The tourists could also take a look at the Tissa Wewa Reservoir, Sandagiri Dagaba, yatala Dagoba on their way to Thissamaharama. The city of Thissamaharama is predominantly an agricultural area where the tourists can experience the rural life styles of farmers who cultivate various kinds of crops and paddy fields and the tourists could even experience a tour around the fields.
Yala National Park
Located in the Sri Lanka’s South-east embracing the panoramic Indian Ocean, Yala was titled a wildlife sanctuary in 1900 and titled as a national park in the year of 1983. Yala is a home ground to more than 44 diversities of mammals and 215 bird species. Among them, the famed residents are leopards, majestic elephants, jackals, spotted bear, peacocks, crocodiles etc. The best time to visit Yala National Park is between February and July.

Udwalawa National Park
Udawalawe national Wildlife Park is situated in the South- East area and is key eco-tourism destination in Sri Lanka. It is most well-known for the elephants that reside there and throughout a visit it is not rare to see herds of young and adult elephants bathing, feeding and playing around. Apart from elephants you could see an occasional leopard, water buffalos, deer etc. the Udawalawe Park is also an exciting place for bird enthusiasts.
Bundala Bird Sanctuary
Bundala-“the world at the edge where the land, the sea and the wetlands meet.” The Bundala National Park is situated in the South-east area with a dry and hot environment. The National Park is dwelling to more than 32 different kinds of mammals where even out of that some are even categorized as “threatened”. They do have a miscellaneous bird life where about 197 species of birds are found. There is also a minor population of elephants found in the open territory easily.
Kabiliththa Dewalaya
The Kabiliththe Dewalaya is an ancient place where there is a small shrine deep inside the fourth block of the yala national park. This dewalaya does not consist of shrines and buildings but a few statues of gods around a small tamarind tree. There is a long history going beyond the eras of Duchess. It is believed that this dewalaya has high spiritual powers and the visit requires pre preparation of about at least a weak as the journey has to be done devotedly. With a touch of adventure the ride to Kabiliththa needs courage and belief.
